JURUBATUBA

 

Jurubatuba is a novel written by “mineiro” Carmo Bernardes who naturalized Goiano. In this work Carmo Bernardes maintains the main feature that is in his other books “caipiras” of the “cerrado goiano”, with all its musicality and rhythm of thes language.

In Jurubataba, as in all his works Carmo Bernardes describes our “sertões”, animals and plants that live in there with details of expert in nature, also know the feelings of the man of the field, their customs and their worries seeing their values it as a product of the environment and the sufferings of life.

The book Jurubatuba presents few characters and holds the attention of the reader not only by the action of these characters but also by author’s ability to create and use the language as it is spoken by “sertanejos”‘  but don’t gives opinion  if it’s rigth or wrong. Carmo Bernardes respects the variety of our language, because he defends the idea that the “language belongs to the people”

Reading this book the reader often not knows if what is wrote it’s real or not, so expressive is the narrative of the actions and like he describes the history environment.

The main characters of the novel form a lovely triangle and they live many situations that revels to us the psyclogical and moral aspect of every  one.

Ramiro is a young man who appears on the farm Jurubatuba. He has good appearance but he is a litle rebe because his lowe social condition. He likes to walk without having a fixed residence. Some time he interruped his long walk at to arrive in a farm  Jurubatuba. In Jurubatuba Ramiro  met  Ermira Ermira, the nice owner of Jurubatuba and fall in love by her. The owner of the farm was married for convenience with an old man who had any attractive, Sizefredo. The both live an ardent love-affair. Ramiro, hoping to get married with Ermira, poisoned her husband and kill him. Ermira don’t acepted the love of Ramiro who was despointed and go away to an unkown place. He was sure that had beeing a diversion for Ermira. Actual she never loved him, she wanted only to have an affair with him, so Ramiro go away o f Jurubatuba and he left everybody behind to go on his long walke by unkown lands.
